Feng Shui Your Wallet for Financial Freedom

If you've been reading my blog for a while, you know that your entire home or apartment, and especially your front entrance, stove and master bedroom, can affect your wealth and prosperity. I've also shown that what you put on your computer desktop can impact your money-making opportunities.

Using Feng Shui when you select and organize your wallet can also help you increase your income. Here's how.

Choosing a Wallet

Your wallet should be large enough to hold everything you need in terms of coins and paper money, with separate sections for each.

When you select a wallet, it doesn't have to cost a lot of money, but it should make you feel good. Creating wealth (and happiness, for that matter) is all about living a specific experience. Each time you take out your wallet, it should make you feel good. You shouldn't be ashamed of your wallet.

Many times, people find a wallet they like and use it until it begins falling apart. It's time to treat yourself to a new wallet, one that reflects your goals, who you are, and the positive experiences you want to create in your life.

What to Put (and Not to Put) In Your Wallet

Just as family photos don't belong in the master bedroom, they don't belong in your wallet, either. Your wallet's focus should be on money -- attracting it and holding on to it. Consider a digital photo keychain or keep photos on your smartphone or tablet, instead.

Don't keep receipts in your wallet, as these represent spending money, rather than acquiring it. Make time each night, or once a week, to empty your wallet of receipts, business cards and random scraps of paper you accumulate.

Some people believe you should limit the number of credit cards you carry in your wallet as credit cards represent debt. But credit cards may also represent wealth, since you need good credit and some level of income to obtain a card. You may not need to keep every single card you own in your wallet, but it's okay to keep the ones you use regularly, enjoy carrying, or want to have handy in an emergency.

If there is a high-end credit card you have that makes you feel proud to carry it, give that one a place of honor in your wallet and feel good about your financial life when you pull it out of your new wallet that makes you feel equally happy and secure.

Storing Your Wallet

Find a special place for your wallet -- perhaps a special basket in your entryway or a spot near your keys and coat -- and always place it there. When the money in your life feels secured and treasured, you will attract more of it.

Don't just toss your wallet on the kitchen table when you come home in the evening. You should always know where your wallet is when you need it, without having to hunt through your home or apartment or even think about it.

Would love to hear your thoughts and comments below. Do any of these items resonate with you? What shape is your wallet in?

Hi Ken! Love your blog. For this specific post, what do you think about keeping a few of your own business cards in your wallet? I like to because it reminds me how far I've come, and that there are new opportunities awaiting.

I'd love to hear your feedback on this!

Dani,

Great question, thanks for asking this. Yes, it is more than fine to carry some business cards in your wallet.

Regarding business cards, keep in mind the experience you provide when you share your business card with another. Is it clean, clear to understand. What does the paper feel like. It is pleasing to the eye. Many people will gain a lot just from viewing and feeling your business card. It should be a positive experience that someone will take care of the card rather than feeling like it is the thickness of a fast food receipt.

I might have to do a blog post on the Feng Shui of business cards soon. :)

I like to keep a hundred dollar bill in my wallet as a money magnet. This hundred dollar bill is not to be spent. I can honestly say that whenever I've done this I've never run out of money and this is quite an achievement as I'm paid quarterly,so the money has to last a long time.
It goes without saying that having a plan and a budget for ones money are also key, but my money really does seem to stretch further with my 'money magnet'in place.

I keep my wallet in my purse and when I am home, I leave my purse in the car ( in the garage). Is this action blocking the flow of money by keeping the wallet away from me?

Cindy, Thanks for the comment. Very interesting. I would recommend finding a location inside your home where you can leave your purse, can even be in a closet but I would not recommend leaving it in the car / garage.

I am so very much pleased to read you article on how a wallet should be. I was unhappy with my wallet because it also had a place for checkbooks and was knid or old looking to me although I paid a lot of money for it and have a co-ordinating change purse, I wanted to get rid of that look so I ordered an old fashioned bill fold wallet with a matching check book, so that I would no longer keep the things in it that you mentioned should not be in a wallett. I am so glad to see that I was on the right tract. I am going to take special attention to everything so I can attract money and not loose money. Thanks so much.
