You'll increase your chances of meeting a soul mate at a party hosted by someone else, since there are bound to be people you haven't met at a soiree thrown by a friend.
But throwing your own holiday cocktail party is a great way to get together with friends, married and single. If there is someone you'd like to get to know better, inviting them to your holiday party is a great way to show your interest. (Just make sure they'll know some of the other guests, as well, otherwise they might feel uncomfortable.)
Follow these Feng Shui tips to make your home comfortable for entertaining during the holidays.
1. Open your entryway - If you re-arrange furniture to decorate for the holidays or to accommodate a Christmas tree, make sure you haven't blocked your front entrance, cluttered your foyer, or blocked the pathway from your front entrance through the rest of your house. Ideally, a Christmas tree or other holiday decorations will go in a place that won't require extensive furniture re-arrangement, especially if the chi flows well in your home throughout the rest of the year.
A house that's most suitable for entertaining shouldn't feel cluttered, even with extra holiday decorations and perhaps extra seating.
2 - Hang mirrors to open a small space - Make sure that mirrors are all in one piece and do not fragment the image of the person looking in them. They should also hang at a height so that they won't visually cut off the head of the tallest guest, but shorter guests won't have to stretch to view themselves.
3 - Position seating for conversation and comfort. - If you re-arrange furniture or add extra chairs for holiday get-togethers, place them so that no guests have their back to the door. Put seats in comfortable clusters at cozy angles to encourage conversation. Avoid placing seats so that they are directly facing each other, as this can lead to conflicts.
