Outdoor Feng Shui for Your New York Apartment: Three Quick Tips
If you live in a New York City apartment, or a condo or townhouse, you may feel as if you're limited in terms of changes you can make to the outside of your space for better Feng Shui.
On the positive side of this, New York apartment dwellers have less to worry about when it comes to prepping the area in front of their homes for spring. But you should be permitted to take these three steps to create a more welcoming atmosphere in your apartment unit -- and the whole building.
1. Plants in pretty pots (as long as they are not obstructing the front entrance) may be permitted by your landlord and can liven up a space as you wait for the landscapers to get the rest of the area in tip-top shape. You may also add a flower box to your unit's window.
2. Take a few minutes to pick up any debris from the front of your apartment building (your neighbors will appreciate it, too). If a hose is available, you can wash the sidewalk clean, too. Then step back and assess the first impression your apartment offers.
3. If your doorbell doesn't work, this can make a very negative first impression, as can broken bricks or pavement on the steps, or a loose or broken railing. If you notice any of these issues, call it to your landlord or the superintendent's attention immediately and emphasize how important it is to get it fixed. The other people in your building will thank you for taking action, too.
