Swimming Pools: 5 Feng Shui Tips To Consider When Putting In A Swimming Pool

If you're considering putting up a swimming pool in your backyard for the summer, it's almost time to start shopping around. After all, in-ground pools take time for construction, and you want to have it ready for your Memorial Day barbecue, right?

When you're adding a major water element like a swimming pool to your property, you want to consider the impact it will have on the Feng Shui of your property. Here are some Feng Shui tips:

1. Feng Shui pools should be kidney shaped, curving toward the house. This will increase your wealth and your ability to retain the money you make, too. Round or oval pools are also okay. If you must have a rectangular pool, make sure none of the sharp angles point toward your house.

2. If you have two pools, such as a kiddie pool and larger pool, or swimming pool and a hot tub, connect them by means of a bridge or paving stones.

3. Keep the pool clean and well-cared for. Not only is a dirty pool a health hazard, it's also bad Feng Shui in regard to your finances. Keeping the filter running also keeps the water moving, and moving water is always better Feng Shui. You may also install a fountain in the pool.

4. The pool should be placed so that it feels balanced on the property -- not too close or too far away from the home. If it's too far away, you won't benefit from the healthy water chi, but if it's too close, you may suffer from the damp air and an overdose of chi.

5. The size of the pool should be proportionate to the size of your house and yard.

When we put our pool in I did all the above and its beautiful. Buttttt we had no choice but to put it in the relationship corner of the yard.I do have a large concrete fountain in the wealth corner.I was once told that if I put a small fence with a gate that would be a new entry point making that a wealth corner too, what do you think?

Thanks in advance

Tonya,

I personally would not build a small fence with a gate to create an additional wealth corner as I don't believe it will have much of an impact.
