Five Things to Know When You Feng Shui Your Entrance

feng shui front entranceThere is a lot of confusion surrounding the best way to Feng Shui an entrance and to lay the Ba Gua out over a home, apartment, or an office building. Here are five easy-to-follow tips regarding a Feng Shui front entrance. This should clear up some things when you begin to use Feng Shui to bring your environment into better alignment with your life goals.

1. In a house, your front entrance is always the main, front entrance to your home as the architect intended it -- even if you primarily use another entrance. You should make every effort to enter through the front door, since this is the primary way energy also enters your home.

2. In a duplex or townhouse, your front entrance is the main entrance to your individual unit.

3. In an apartment building, your front entrance is the main door to your apartment -- not the main entrance in to the building. This should be considered as a secondary entrance. When you Feng Shui your entrance in an apartment, consider the door you enter your apartment by.

4. When you lay the Ba Gua over a home, do not include garages, sunporches or other add-on areas that are not main living space. Lay the Ba Gua over the main level of a home, and then, separately, over other levels. You can reinforce your good fortune by activating chi in the trigrams of different levels of your home.

5. When you lay the Ba Gua over your apartment's floor plan, consider only your living space, not the building as a whole.

My front entrance is the South- my

Chueh Ming Ba Qua. Since this is

the most harmful and the color is

red, (fire).

I use a blue oriental rug to

put out the fire..and tone it down.(blue- water).

Hi Ken, This posts clears some things up for me. Thank you.

I have one outstanding question about the entrance because the layout is awkward. The entrance door faces east. I actually have a room that is farther east than this. So if I placed the ba gua flush with the entrance, this room is outside it (below Career and Helpful People and Travel). I imagine a lot of people have this layout with L-shaped houses, etc. What about that room? Thanks!

I've been doing so much reading on feng shui that I'm now truly confused. My front entrance faces east, the door opens inward 90 degrees into a small but bright entrance. Do I decorate with colours of "east" direction or for the Bag Gua area (Helpful People/Travel)?
