Use Feng Shui to Choose a Good Workplace

feng shui careerIf you're job hunting and going on lots of interviews, now's a great time to use Feng Shui to enhance your career by selecting your new job carefully.

Of course, you must take into account the practical and mundane, first:

- Is the job what you're looking for?
- Will you enjoy what you're doing?
- Will the salary and benefits permit you to live the lifestyle you want?
- Is there room for advancement?

But, the Feng Shui in your workplace can also set the tone for your career success, advancement and overall happiness. Here are a few Feng Shui career factors you may want to think about when you're deciding whether or not to take a new job.

- What's the neighborhood like? The environment and neighborhood surrounding an office building is very revealing; is the town in good financial shape, or are business closing down?

- Is the office building approximately the same as other buildings around it? Or is it dwarfed by surrounding buildings? This could inhibit your advancement in the company as well as the company's long-term success.

- Is the front entrance bright, open and airy? If you are looking for a workplace with room for advancement, the front entrance should follow the same Feng Shui principles as the front entrance of your home.

- Is this a place you'd enjoy coming to work every day? Most importantly, follow your intuition to decide if the overall chi in the building -- the colors, layout, even your co-workers and management -- appeals to you. You'll thrive best in a place where you are happy.

I don't know how this falls in with feng shui guidelines, but I always like to work west of where I live. If you work east of where you live, you drive into the sunrise in the morning and into the sunset on your way home. It seems to add to the stress of rush hour traffic if you also have to contend with glare.

Debi, Thanks for sharing these thoughts. Many living in India actually like to have the front door of their homes to face East so that they can greet the new day and rising sun.
