Celebrate Christmas with Feng Shui Basics
It's easy to forget -- especially this time of year -- that Feng Shui is, above all else, about balancing the energy in a space. A mixture of Yin (calm, feminine energy) and Yang (powerful, highly active, masculine energy) creates a sense of balance and peace.
After all, with too much yin energy, we might not have the drive or ambition to go after our goals. But with too much Yang energy, we may find ourselves scattered and unfocused. Too much Yang energy can lead you to feel stressed and cause headaches or, at the extreme, anxiety. Too much Yin energy can make you feel lethargic, unmotivated or, at the extreme, depressed.
Christmas morning in many homes is full of Yang energy, with presents being torn open, bright Christmas tree lights flashing, children squealing with glee. And that's as it should be.
But make sure to balance that energy with some peaceful, quiet time with your family. Consider preparing a light, healthy, Christmas breakfast to enjoy after opening presents.
Later on Christmas Day, following a high-energy dinner, you can relax and unwind by the lights of the tree and play a board game with the family.
Create a mix of Christmas tunes that includes soft instrumental ballads and happy, fast-tempo'd classic songs.
Most importantly, take a few minutes, amidst the hustle and bustle, to remember that this is the season of giving.
