Feng Shui decorating can get extremely overwhelming, especially for beginners. Many people follow Feng Shui tips and tricks, looking for cures for this problem or that, without really evaluating their key life goals first.
What Do You Really Desire? Before you begin decorating using Feng Shui tips, spend some time thinking about your goals. What are the most important things in your life? In what rooms do you spend the most time? What do you do there? And, perhaps most importantly, how do you feel when you're in those areas of your home or apartment?
Avoid Feng Shui Decorating Problems Rather Than Seeking CuresMuch Feng Shui “bad luck” can be prevented by being aware of the flow of chi in a space when you first begin Feng Shui decorating. Pay close attention to how you will use a space -- and if the objects in that space and their placement suits your needs and goals. Do you feel comfortable? Do visitors to your home feel comfortable?
Does It Work For You?Sometimes, what books and even Feng Shui masters may cite as a Feng Shui “problem” or a cause of bad luck doesn't actually bother a home's inhabitants. Sometimes, a client will come to me and name a Feng Shui “problem” they see in their home. Maybe a fellow Feng Shui enthusiast pointed it out, or they read about it in a book. Rather than jumping in to find a cure, I will ask the person what's going on in their life right now. What are their main goals? What challenges are they facing?
It may turn out that what the person perceived to be bad Feng Shui isn't adversely affecting them at all. On the other hand, factors they never noticed in their home or apartment could be blocking them from living their true life purpose.
