What Habits Do You Want to Break Or Change?

 

Reading and sharing parts of Wayne Dyer's Excuses Begone!: How to Change Lifelong, Self-Defeating Thinking Habits, has gotten me thinking about habits that don't serve us. Everyone has a few habits we'd like to break that would help us to live our true life purpose and achieve all our goals.

I asked my Facebook friends what habits they want to break and the answers were insightful. A surprising number responded that Facebook is one habit they'd like to break. Here are some of the other replies.

Calvin Mayshack: Junk food

April Ramsey German: Listening to gossip and negative people
John Mingione: I actually want to strengthen the habit of realizing how lucky I am to be alive in such a beautiful world and be thankful to my creator for giving me such wonderful things like musical instruments and surfboards and awesome teachers.

I'd like to break the habit of putting, on the back burner, what I truly want in life. I realize that, if you don't consciously work at a dream, time slips away. I am going to make the commitment of working on my dreams/goals, the most important one(s) to me, on a daily basis and persevering to success.

I'd like to break the habit of being influence by other people's moods, especially those of my children when they wake up each morning - crabby! Also, I'd like to revamp my life so my children come first before my work - play before work goes against everything I've been taught, but when it comes to children, really, what is most important?!

I agree with Kris above. I too need to make the focus on my children my new habit, rather than the perceived "more important" pressues of work!

I would like to break the habit of self-doubt, and putting other's happiness before mine, if it doesn't make sense. Take the time to find solutions that are win-win, instead of what may seem at the onset to be an easy way out.

I have to stop smoking. My doctor said I have the beginnings of COPD already at 50. I figured I'ld get it but later. And I have to agree with Melissa about the stress & negativity. I have 4 dogs who depend on me & I have no one to will them too. So...
