Do You Keep a Gratitude Journal?

gratitude journalWhen we take time, late at night or during the still morning, to consider all we are grateful for, we realize how much we have. Some people may be grateful for the basics: a home, enough food to eat, a job that provides us with the necessities. Still others are grateful for the life they've created, which permits them to fulfill their true life purpose.

It is okay to be grateful for material things, as well as for our friends and loved ones, for opportunities to be close to nature, and for moments when we are completely present and fulfilling our life purpose.

When we take the time to write down what we are grateful for in a gratitude journal, we attract more of these things to ourselves. To add even greater strength to your words and harness the power of intention, keep your journal in the health, wealth, family or career section of the bagua. You may even want to keep short lists of what you're grateful for in each of these areas.

What would be in a typical page in my gratitude journal? Here are just a few things I am grateful for every day:

- My family
- My home
- My health
- The opportunity to do my morning Tai Chi exercises in the peaceful energy of Central Park
- The opportunity to help my clients connect with their true self and purpose
- Every single individual who reads this blog, visits my website or connects with me through social media each day

Have you considered keeping a gratitude journal? Would you? Please feel free to post some of the things you might list in a gratitude journal in the comments section below.

I enjoy keeping a gratitude journal. It makes me realize I have tons to be thankful for even on those though days. Here are some of the things I write about..... Love, Sunshine, Thunderstorms, the ocean, my toddlers smile, beautiful parks, just breathing, the opportunity to see my husband that works for FDNY comes home safe and sound each day.

I am big on gratitude. Don't keep a gratitude journal although maybe I should!

I've had discussions with my husband about gratitude lately as his health is failing and he seems to be down about it. I reminded him about all the things he has to be grateful for and it made a difference in his spirits. I intend to buy him a book on gratitude. Anyone read Attitudes of Gratitude by M.J. Ryan?

I think gratitude is the virtue, if practiced, that can make a difference right away in your life because a shift occurs from negative to positive thought.

Whenever I start to think negatively, if I remember, I think of things to be grateful for. This sure does help to turn a mood or negative feelings around.

I recommend a wonderful video on a website called gratefulness.org called "A Good Day." (not my website) It's in their left sidebar. Don't miss it because it can forever change the way you might think about each day.

Gratitude is a great word when just expressed in words (Ex: expressing in word to the person we are obliged that "I am truly Grateful to you", " I will always remember you till the breaths last in my body", " May GOD bless you and your clan for all the favour done to me" etc.Gratitude is a great DEED when we do something by our body, mind and heart which makes that person ( from whom I have received big favor)the most happy.
Here my person of reference is GOD, from whom we have received innumerable number of favors. Whatever our Friends have expressed in the comments expressing their gratitudes, GOD is the cause for each act. So, how can we make GOD happy to pay back our Gratitude? It is like, when we love a child from our heart & express it, the Mother of the child becomes extremely happy. Similarly, GOD would become extremely happy when we Love from the core of our hearts all human beings(who are children of GOD) and do selfless service to the needy that GOD would become extremely happy. This,I,think is the True expression of Gratitude in DEED.

Recently, I have discovered in our healing process, it is imperative to focus on that which brings us joy rather thean the deficiencies we may be temporarily experiencing at the time. Gratefulness brings joy to the soul and a certain peace transcends the heart.

I am bi-polar and one of the things that I have found that aids in keeping me "grounded" when I'm in the depressive cycle is my gratitude journal. For me it's very easy to forget the many things I have to be grateful for everyday and being able to go back and look at past entries really helps to pull me out of depressive cycles, it's difficult to be depressed when you realize how many incredible things you have to be grateful for every day.
