Feng Shui Bedroom: Learn How Mirrors in the Bedroom Can Enhance Your Relationship

Feng Shui Relationship Love Sex

Many Feng Shui experts warn against placing mirrors in the bedroom. Multiple myths and superstitions surround mirrors. People who are against placing mirrors in the bedroom often have one of three arguments:

1. Some people believe that when you sleep, your spirit and energy leaves your body. As your energy or spirit returns, it may get confused and enter the mirror rather than your body.

2. Some people believe mirrors in the bedroom effectively “double” the number of people in the room and can lead to extramarital affairs.

3.  People claim that if you wake up in the middle of the night and spot yourself in the mirror, you may get startled and have a hard time falling asleep again.

However, these are simply beliefs steeped in superstition. From my point of view and practice, mirrors in the bedroom can actually enhance a relationship.

A large round mirror on the wall above the headboard can relax the eyes, reduce tension and improve a marriage. Add a mirror near the foot of the bed, and you’ll see an infinite doubling of the image, which can provide a sense of joyful expansion, completion and advancement. Both options can actually improve communication with your loved one. Mirrors can also be placed on the left and right sides of the bed for a similar effect.

One thing to be cautious of, however, is that the bedroom is yin energy and mirrors can be considered yang. Be careful about energizing the bedroom too much with a mirror that reflects morning sunlight into the room.

Aside from that one consideration, however, mirrors in the bedroom can actually relax couples and enhance relationships. Place mirrors in the bedroom wherever you feel comfortable doing so.

My couple friends checked out healthy by their docs and wondered if their bedroom can affect fertility, feng shui wise. Any thought?

Yes, Feng Shui can affect fertility. There are a variety of ways that I approach those looking to get pregnant within my consultations but do not provide the tips here because each case is different.

I have a mirror beside my bedroom.. but symmetrical to it is the window.. would that be okay? I mean.. wouldn't
the chi reflect and not go inside the bedroom?
Posted @ Monday, June 20, 2011 8:27 PM by Kristine
Kristine, Based on what you described, that should be fine. The mirror can actually draw energy into a space and make you want to move into the room.

The mirror on the side of my bed gives a reflection of me when I sleep. That is not a bad thing is it?

I have heard that.. when a window and a mirror is symmetrical to each other.. it is not good because the chi will not flow... it will reflect back outside. It was not included on your entry.. so I wondered how true is this?

I have covered the mirror.. so I am thinking to remove the cover now.. I am wondering if I remove the cover on my mirror which was symmetrical to the window.. will this will enhance my relationship to a special someone...?

PS. my bed is at the middle of the mirror and the window. (MIRROR > BED > WINDOW)

Kristine, typically this has no negative impact. Some do not like it because the bedroom is yin energy and with the mirror reflecting light can be yang energy. I personally do not worry about mirrors in a bedroom and it can be one way to give a feeling of expansion and forward progress and bring nature indoors.

Hello Ken

I just had to ask this what effect would mirror on the
Ceiling have
Posted @ Tuesday, June 21, 2011 9:45 PM by Vern
Vern, good question. I personally do not care for a mirror on the ceiling as it is yang in nature and the bedroom is yin energy. This can be disruptive sleep. Although the bedroom is for two things and they both start with the letter "S", from a Feng Shui standpoint, I do not recommend a mirror on the ceiling.

Thank you for the information, Ken.

I will observe its effect in a couple of days or so... I have removed the cover from the mirror already. :)

Hi Ken,

My front door entrance goes straight up the stairs. I've heard this is the worst thing for your home. What can I do to counteract this since I cannot remodel.

Thank you so much for your response.
