Are you seeking love? Commitment? Fulfillment in a romantic relationship and an eventual family? It all starts with a first date.

What you wear on that first date can increase the odds you'll form a powerful connection with potential for a long-term relationship. On the other hand, the wrong choice in clothes can make you disappear quickly from the person's mind as soon as the door closes on the evening.

Red to Turn Heads
If you want to turn heads, a red dress or shirt will do the trick. This sends a message that you are a person full of passion. Red, often the color of a Chinese wedding dress, is an auspicious color for most occasions, and especially for a woman or man seeking a mate.

If you want to impress your date, you can choose colors that enhance your most positive inner traits or, alternatively, colors that correspond with your sign in the Chinese zodiac. These colors strengthen your chi.

For instance, if you are creatively charged and ready to deliver stimulating conversation -- and looking for someone who can do the same - wear blue, red or purple.

If you wish to showcase your natural compassion, green, blue, black or red will send a message to your date. Black can also indicate wisdom, class and style. (Think of a black tie affair.) However, to avoid depressing black chi that could overwhelm the otherwise happy occasion, dress up the outfit with colorful accessories, such as a red evening bag.

By strengthening your chi for a special occasion like a first date, you increase your own confidence. The right colors also change the way people perceive you and affect their chi in a positive manner, as well.

Rainbow Colors to Connect
Most people respond to rainbow colors. Salespeople often wear this color in order to appeal to a broad variety of buyers; this technique can work on a date, too. Rainbow colors enhance every type of chi and support the virtues of all five elements.

It takes a certain personality type to pull off a rainbow outfit without looking like a clown. Consider, instead, using rainbow elements on your undergarments or in very small doses, like on a piece of jewelry.

The Five Elemental Colors
Instead of a rainbow, you can employ the five-elemental colors in any order on your outfit to bring good fortune during a first date. Using the five elemental colors in an outfit is a special Feng Shui technique used to increase your fortune during important events.

Would you like to enhance your love life with Feng Shui? Perhaps you’re planning a romantic at-home rendezvous this Valentine’s Day, and you’d like to create the best atmosphere for intimacy. You can use Feng Shui to turn your bedroom into a hot spot more luxurious than a four-star romantic getaway hotel.

1.    Set the mood with the right colors.
Red accents add fire to a room, ensuring a passionate ambiance. Just be sure not to overdue the red in the bedroom as it can lead to arguments.

2.    Let the air (and chi) circulate.
The moment you enter your bedroom sanctuary, you should begin to feel relaxed and romantic. Clear away clutter and open windows (if weather permits) or use an air purifier to keep the air clear. Consider placing a bowl of fresh fruit, such as grapes and strawberries, near the bed.

3. Use scents.
You may want to employ some aphrodisiac scents in the air. Fragrances should be subtle, not overpowering. Pure essential oils work best. Some aphrodisiacs for both men and women include:
-    Licorice
-    Sandalwood
-    Cucumber
-    Jasmine
-    Vanilla

4. Appropriate lighting
Your bedroom lights should be on a dimmer switch, permitting you to set the mood. Better yet, a few natural, non-toxic candles (such as those made from soy or beeswax) create the perfect lighting for a romantic mood.

Learn How Mirrors in the Bedroom Can Enhance Your Relationship

Many Feng Shui experts warn against placing mirrors in the bedroom. Multiple myths and superstitions surround mirrors. People who are against placing mirrors in the bedroom often have one of three arguments:

1. Some people believe that when you sleep, your spirit and energy leaves your body. As your energy or spirit returns, it may get confused and enter the mirror rather than your body.
 
2. Some people believe mirrors in the bedroom effectively “double” the number of people in the room and can lead to extramarital affairs.
 
3.  People claim that if you wake up in the middle of the night and spot yourself in the mirror, you may get startled and have a hard time falling asleep again.

However, these are simply beliefs steeped in superstition. From my point of view and practice, mirrors in the bedroom can actually enhance a relationship.

A large round mirror on the wall above the headboard can relax the eyes, reduce tension and improve a marriage. Add a mirror near the foot of the bed, and you’ll see an infinite doubling of the image, which can provide a sense of joyful expansion, completion and advancement. Both options can actually improve communication with your loved one. Mirrors can also be placed on the left and right sides of the bed for a similar effect.

One thing to be cautious of, however, is that the bedroom is yin energy and mirrors can be considered yang. Be careful about energizing the bedroom too much with a mirror that reflects morning sunlight into the room.

Aside from that one consideration, however, mirrors in the bedroom can actually relax couples and enhance relationships. Place mirrors in the bedroom wherever you feel comfortable doing so.

Feng Shui Colors for Attracting Love

Whether you’re looking to attract love or maintain a strong relationship, Feng Shui can play a large role. The layout, design, décor and even color scheme in your bedroom can affect your love life.

Here are some colors, depending on your personal tastes and relationship goals, which may work well in a bedroom.

Greens – Green is a color of nature and rejuvenation, making it perfect for a restful night’s sleep. It also represents hope and newness – good for attracting a new love. If your intention is romance, however, incorporate deeper accent colors of maroon or red.

Blue – Like green, blue is a tranquil color, making it good for sleep and relaxation.

Peach – If you are seeking love, peach is a good color for the bedroom, as it attracts social opportunities.

Pink – Pink is considered one of the best Feng Shui colors for a bedroom. It combines the fiery romance of the color red, with the metal element in the color white. Pink is the color of true love and lasting romance, and is often recommended for newlyweds.

Red – While painting bedroom walls red will activate too much chi and add too much fire element to the space, red accents can increase passion. Red sheets or blankets are recommended to spice up a love life.

Whatever colors you select, if you want to attract a partner make sure your bedroom isn’t too masculine or too feminine. The space should be welcoming to a partner of the opposite sex. Even a pink bedroom can look classy and gender-neutral, without a lot of frills and lace.

Is Your Bed Hurting Your Love Life?

Are you sabotaging your relationship, or hurting your chances at finding love, because of negative Feng Shui in your bedroom? Good Feng Shui in the bedroom begins with the bed.

Proper placement
To insure a restful night's sleep - which will help all other areas of your life fall into place - set your bed in the command position of your bedroom.

The proper command position puts the bed on one of the opposite walls of the door, but not directly in line with the door. Your sleep may suffer if your bed is in line with the door. You can see examples of three command positions here.

Headboard
A bed's headboard should be solid, firmly affixed to the bed frame, and made of one piece of wood or fabric. A headboard represents stability in an existing relationship as well as the promise of future romance.

Many people - especially men and tall people - don't like foot boards. Some say it makes the bed feel like a coffin. You don't need one, but if you have one it should be no higher than the mattress.

Size matters.
A twin bed is too small for two. A full is better, but may not provide enough room for two adults. Whether you have already found the love of your life or want to attract a lover, a Queen size bed is the optimal size. A king-size bed leaves no room for advancement. Your next step might be back down to a twin.

No squeaky springs
You don't have to pay a lot to get a top-quality mattress, but your mattress should be in good condition for a better night's sleep. No one wants to sleep on a torn or stained mattress, and squeaky springs can definitely put a damper on your love life.

Feng Shui Colors For A Bedroom

Each week, I have numerous conversations with single men/ women and married couples on what the best color is to paint their bedroom. Of course each person or couple has their own unique style and many times I will tailor my suggestions based on the specific person, couple or space.

In general, pink is considered to be one of the best colors for the bedroom because it is the color associated with relationships. Pink is also thought of as an auspicious color combining the fire/ passion of red and the metal element of white. Pink represents love and pure feelings of joy, happiness, and romance.

Light blues and light greens are positive colors for a bedroom as well as small accent colors of red. Green represents tranquility, hope and freshness as seen in spring growth or that of a new plant or leaf.

If an individual is seeking to get married, then they may want to consider painting the bedroom pink or peach.

The color peach aligns with "Peach Blossom Luck," which represents attraction and love. A person that is single with peach blossom luck will be outgoing, social, make new friends and have numerous admirers. However, once married, consider painting the bedroom a different color as it can lead to adultery.

I typically don't recommend chocolate brown in the bedroom as it can give a heavy feeling. Some believe that it can be used to create a stable, established impression, I equate it to autumn, when leaves turn brown and fall to the ground.

Many Chinese stay away from having white blankets on their beds because it is similar to the shroud that covers the dead and fear sleep will seem like death. Although, plain white sheets or white sheets with flowers or colorful designs are fine. The use of pink or red sheets and blankets are used by those seeking to get married or by newlyweds to ensure wedding bliss.

When thinking about the bedroom, one of the most important principles is determining the placement of the bed in the command position, a power position that provides a view of the door, prevents surprise, and gives control of an environment.

Feng Shui Love: Is Clutter Getting In The Way Of Your Sex Life?

Is your love life a little lacklustre?

There's a definite link between your sex life and your dirty laundry, says a clutter-busting expert.

"An unclear mind and space aren't conducive to good, yummy, relaxed sex," says Janet Mayfield, a feng shui consultant and former Edmontonian.

Feng shui is the ancient Chinese system of rearranging your environment to bring balance into your life.

Take a mental inventory of their bedroom space. How do they feel in it? Is it full of good memories or bad? Have you had more arguments than sex in there? Does the room feel private? Is the bed comfortable? Does the bed have a history before your current partner?

"Opening the windows, washing the bedding and burning a candle or incense will start to make a difference," says Mayfield. "If it feels really awful, empty the room entirely, wash it from top to bottom, and as you put it back together, play some favourite music, laugh, clap, sing or shake bells. It will help to break up any old remaining chi -- energy."

Other tips: Take out pictures of the children and family. Fill it with happy pictures of you and your spouse. Clear up any sign of work. The colours pink, coral and peach are very conducive to romance, so use these colours if you like them.

If you've ever secretly worn red panties under your clothes just to feel sexy, then you can attest to the power of colour to affect your mood.

When it comes to cleaning house, Edmonton marriage counsellor Gary Meiers is no clutter-busting guru, but he says a good sweep under the proverbial carpets can do wonders for your sex life.

Over time, unskilled communication can lead to resentment and kill intimacy, he says.

Then consider this timeless aphorism from an ancient Indian text, The Upanishads:

    * Watch your thoughts; they become words.
    * Watch your words; they become actions.
    * Watch your actions; they become habits.
    * Watch your habits; they become your character.
    * Watch your character; it becomes your destiny.

It doesn't take a feng shui leap to see that our inner and outer worlds are intrinsically connected. So, this spring, why not do an internal sweep? Take out the trash in your love life and transform your relationship. After all, no amount of clutter is worth a sexless destiny.
