Do you feel as if you're not getting a good night's rest? When you wake up, are you still exhausted as if you haven't slept at all?
Do you suffer from headaches? Do you feel as if life is a constant treadmill, where you work and work but never get ahead? Do you have a feeling of discontent, as if something is weighing you down, but you can't pinpoint the problem?
Several structures in your house -- including ceiling beams -- could cause any of these problems and more.
Ceiling Beams Over a BedCeiling beams over your bed are particularly problematic. In addition to sleep problems, a beam crossing your bed can create medical problems in the area over which the beam crosses. For instance, a beam over your head can cause headaches. A
beam over your legs may lead to a leg injury, car accident, or simply a feeling that you can't move forward in life. Beams over major organs can cause illness or an overall feeling of fatigue.
Ceiling Beams Over a DeskA ceiling beam over a desk, either in a workplace or in a home office, can block your forward movement in your career. If you pay your bills from the desk, it may feel as if you are living paycheck-to-paycheck, always playing catch up and never having enough money to save at the end of the month. You may also suffer from headaches.
Feng Shui Cures for BeamsFortunately, since exposed ceiling beams are a common architectural feature in many homes and apartments, several Feng Shui cures are designed to alleviate the negative affects of overheard beams.
Paint - Paint the beam the same color as the ceiling to help it blend in, making it less visually (and psychologically) “pressing.” For added Feng Shui benefits, use the five-elemental color scheme in the creative or destructive cycle when you select your colors for your ceiling, walls and floors.
Flutes - Hang two bamboo flutes from the beam at 45-degree angles, suggesting the ba gua. The mouthpieces should be facing upward. You can also hang the flutes vertically with the mouthpieces facing up.

Fake Firecrackers - Hanging
fake firecrackers -- in an auspicious red color -- will fill the space with explosive, uplifting chi. If you have beams above your desk, firecrackers will give you more energy and will “
raise” the space, making you feel as if the sky's the limit on your accomplishments.
I'm curious to hear from you and your thoughts.

During Feng Shui consultations, clients frequently ask me to evaluate the Feng Shui of their bed and share the key factors to look for when purchasing a new bed. I've found some common mistakes that people make or are making that may be having an impact on their relationships, health, wealth and more.
We all know how much better we feel after a good night’s sleep. Review this article and bookmark it so that you can forward it along to your friends and family when they are looking to create a Feng Shui appropriate bed.
1. Let The Chi Circulate: An appropriate bed should have legs , ideally on each corner, elevating it above the floor. This allows the air and chi to circulate beneath it, assisting with the healing nature of rest. This simple act of enabling the chi to circulate under the bed can help with fertility and also health issues.
Removing all items from under the bed also helps the chi to circulate. If you need that space for storage – perhaps because you live in a small apartment with few closets – you can store linens and clothing in well-organized boxes or a trundle drawer. Avoid storing weapons, sharp objects or anything metal underneath the bed.
When you place the bed in the room, it should be positioned so that the chi can flow around both sides. This article explains the
command position, which is the ideal location for a bed.
2. Bigger is not always better: A Queen bed is recommended over a King or California King size bed for two reasons. A King size bed leaves no room for upgrading. Since you’ve already reached the maximum level, the only way to move is downward, so your next bed might be to move to a single bed. .
Additionally, a King size mattress typically rests on two box springs, which can suggest a separation between partners who sleep in the bed together.
3. Get A Proper Headboard: A headboard in Feng Shui represents protection. It not only provides the possibility of a relationship, it also affects the stability in an existing relationship. The headboard should be firmly affixed to the bed frame and made of one solid piece of material, either wood or fabric. Avoid rods or headboards that split in the middle.
Footboard: Footboards aren’t necessary. Men typically don’t like footboards; some say it feels like being in a coffin. If you do wish to have a footboard, it should be no higher than the mattress. A taller footboard can limit your travel opportunities.
4. Sleeping in a permanent bed: Murphy beds, futons and day beds provide a temporary feeling, and therefore are recommended only for use in guest rooms.
A four-poster bed should fit within the space. I’ve seen many beds that really require a much larger space than what they have. Canopy beds are fine –again, space permitting. They may provide an added sense of protection for some. Keep the top of the canopy clean; don’t allow it to become a dust magnet.
5. Higher price does not relate to better Feng Shui: The price of the bed is not always a reflection of good Feng Shui. One of my clients recently purchased a $20,000 bed, only to discover it provided very poor Feng Shui and could be a contributing factor in a troubled relationship.
In other words,
separate the price from the Feng Shui value of a bed. Purchase a bed that is comfortable and feels right to you. Regardless of cost, your bed should help you achieve your goal of a quality, restful night’s sleep, where you awake feeling refreshed and renewed.

Each week, I have numerous conversations with single men/ women and married couples on what the best color is to paint their bedroom. Of course each person or couple has their own unique style and many times I will tailor my suggestions based on the specific person, couple or space.
In general,
pink is considered to be one of the best colors for the bedroom because it is the color associated with relationships. Pink is also thought of as an auspicious color combining the fire/ passion of red and the metal element of white. Pink represents love and pure feelings of joy, happiness, and romance.
Light blues and light greens are positive colors for a bedroom as well as small accent colors of red. Green represents tranquility, hope and freshness as seen in spring growth or that of a new plant or leaf.
If an individual is seeking to get married, then they may want to consider painting the bedroom pink or peach. The color peach aligns with "Peach Blossom Luck," which represents attraction and love. A person that is single with peach blossom luck will be outgoing, social, make new friends and have numerous admirers. However, once married, consider painting the bedroom a different color as it can lead to adultery.
I typically don't recommend chocolate brown in the bedroom as it can give a heavy feeling. Some believe that it can be used to create a stable, established impression, I equate it to autumn, when leaves turn brown and fall to the ground.
Many Chinese stay away from having white blankets on their beds because it is similar to the shroud that covers the dead and fear sleep will seem like death. Although, plain white sheets or white sheets with flowers or colorful designs are fine.
The use of pink or red sheets and blankets are used by those seeking to get married or by newlyweds to ensure wedding bliss.
When thinking about the bedroom, one of the most important principles is determining the placement of the bed in the
command position, a power position that provides a view of the door, prevents surprise, and gives control of an environment.

Is your love life a little lacklustre?
There's a definite link between your sex life and your dirty laundry, says a clutter-busting expert.
"An unclear mind and space aren't conducive to good, yummy, relaxed sex," says Janet Mayfield, a feng shui consultant and former Edmontonian.
Feng shui is the ancient Chinese system of rearranging your environment to bring balance into your life.
Take a mental inventory of their bedroom space. How do they feel in it? Is it full of good memories or bad? Have you had more arguments than sex in there? Does the room feel private? Is the bed comfortable? Does the bed have a history before your current partner?
"Opening the windows, washing the bedding and burning a candle or incense will start to make a difference," says Mayfield. "If it feels really awful, empty the room entirely, wash it from top to bottom, and as you put it back together, play some favourite music, laugh, clap, sing or shake bells. It will help to break up any old remaining chi -- energy."
Other tips: Take out pictures of the children and family. Fill it with happy pictures of you and your spouse. Clear up any sign of work. The colours pink, coral and peach are very conducive to romance, so use these colours if you like them.
If you've ever secretly worn red panties under your clothes just to feel sexy, then you can attest to the power of colour to affect your mood.
When it comes to cleaning house, Edmonton marriage counsellor Gary Meiers is no clutter-busting guru, but he says a good sweep under the proverbial carpets can do wonders for your sex life.
Over time, unskilled communication can lead to resentment and kill intimacy, he says.
ot buying into the whole "change your decor, change your life" philosophy?
Then consider this timeless aphorism from an ancient Indian text, The Upanishads:
* Watch your thoughts; they become words.
* Watch your words; they become actions.
* Watch your actions; they become habits.
* Watch your habits; they become your character.
* Watch your character; it becomes your destiny.
It doesn't take a feng shui leap to see that our inner and outer worlds are intrinsically connected. So, this spring, why not do an internal sweep? Take out the trash in your love life and transform your relationship. After all, no amount of clutter is worth a sexless destiny.
