Feng Shui Teachings: Don't Make Feng Shui Too Complicated

feng shui
Many Feng Shui experts use complex formulas related to flying stars and Chinese birth dates when they offer a Feng Shui consultation. Sometimes, Feng Shui experts rely on compass directions when they lay the ba gua over a home, apartment or a plot of land.

While this form of Feng Shui certainly works, many people achieve great success with a more intuitive form of Feng Shui, called Black Sect Tantric Buddhist Feng Shui or BTB Feng Shui.

Let's understand a few points: The term “black sect” does not mean it's evil or related in any way to anything negative. And “Buddhist” does not imply that you have to practice the religion to use, and see powerful results, from BTB Feng Shui. Now that that's out of the way, let's look at what BTB Feng Shui can do for you.

Sense the Energy of a Space with BTB Feng Shui

I use Feng Shui to help me understand and evaluate the overall energy in a space -- is it positive or negative? Is the space, based on my intuition, in alignment with the residents' goals? Does it feel as if chi moves freely through the space, or are there spots of “dead energy” or extreme clutter that can make the inhabitants of a home or apartment feel blocked?

Use the Ba Gua to Change Your Life

BTB Feng Shui does employ the ba gua, a map of your home, apartment or space marked by nine different sectors, or trigrams, representing different areas of your life. Looking at what we naturally keep in these nine spaces tells us a lot about a person's inner thoughts, habits and priorities. By shifting the energy in these trigrams, we can adjust the energy of a space so it can help the person live the life they dream of having.

Feng Shui Can Be Easy

Feng Shui doesn't have to be hard. You can Feng Shui your home or apartment room-by-room using my new eBook, Feng Shui Secrets. And if you find you need a hand or some expert guidance, why not contact me about a Feng Shui consultation by email, by phone or in-person?

Wealth Feng Shui: Why It's Okay to Want Nice Things

We've all heard the phrase “money doesn't buy happiness.” To some extent, and for many, people, this is true. It's just as easy to be rich and unhappy as it is to be poor and unhappy. But it's also harder to be happy without many of the necessities and luxuries that money can buy.

Of course, we've all heard of the young couples with barely enough to scrape by, “living on love.” But that's only when your basic necessities for life and security -- such as food and a roof over your head -- are met. And money can buy that.

Money can also buy many of the luxuries that help us to enjoy life. There's no harm in this. Unfortunately, many people (especially women) tend to be ashamed to admit they want more out of life -- especially more material possessions. They might feel guilty wanting famous brand clothes or accessories when some people can't afford clothes at all. And this can keep someone “stuck” where they are, in a mentality of desiring but not being able to attract what they desire.

You Deserve Good Things

I want to tell you that you deserve good things. Why? Because everyone does. Everyone is worthy of fulfilling all their dreams. So it's time to stop feeling guilty, set your sights on what you want, and set your intention to get it. The Universe provides us with what we focus on, if we permit it to.

One of the things that makes Feng Shui so powerful is that when we make changes to our home or apartment, we are bringing our space into alignment with what we really want -- we're adjusting our focus to fulfill our goals.

I show you, step-by-step, exactly how to pinpoint your goals, accept them as part of who you are, and achieve them by using proven, time-tested Feng Shui techniques, in my eBook, Feng Shui Secrets. Sound interesting?

9 Questions to Ask Yourself About Your Home or Apartment

questions to ask yourself
Is your home or apartment inspiring you to get unstuck and go after everything you want in life? Or is it blocking you in ways you may not even realize?

Feng Shui Clutter: Do You Need to De-Clutter for Good Feng Shui?

Is Reducing Clutter Really Necessary?

Open to the first chapter of nearly any book on Feng Shui, and you'll see that Feng Shui experts -- along with professional organizers, interior designers, life coaches and the mass media -- advise you to “de-clutter your home.”

It's absolutely true that chi can't flow in a home with books, furniture, junk, toys and other objects strewn haphazardly across a room. These objects without their own space in your home also create the practical hazard -- if you can't walk across a room without tripping, that is definitely not good Feng Shui!

But if a sparse “show room” style home that looks like no one lives there is not your style, there's no need to strive for this home decorating magazine ideal, either. It's okay to have things in your home. Just make sure that:

-  Everything in your home or apartment serves a purpose (even -- especially -- if that purpose is to bring you joy or inspire you to achieve your true life goals)

-  Everything has a specific place where it resides when not in use

- That space is not blocking the flow of chi in a major thoroughfare, like a hallway, doorway or your main entrance

- The object “feels” right in that section of your home. This is where the intuition aspect of Feng Shui comes in. A consultation from an expert Feng Shui consultation can help you assess the flow of chi in your home and decide what may work best in your home or apartment's layout

- The object fits your life and your home or apartment now. One of the main dangers of clutter is that people tend to hold on to things from past stages of their lives. This can keep you stuck and prevent you from moving forward.

Surrounding yourself with reminders of the person you used to be -- 10 years ago, five years ago, or maybe even just yesterday -- will not keep you moving forward to fulfill your true life purpose TODAY.

Feng Shui Focus: What Is Most Important To You?

true purpose in life
You can use action, intention, and Feng Shui in every area of your life for positive results and lasting change. But first, you must decide exactly what it is you want. When you begin fulfilling your true life purpose every day, everything else falls into place; and it will be easy to have and achieve everything you desire.

After all, anything we set out to do is only difficult because we believe it will be difficult. This attitude can block us from achieving our dreams. If we approach any change in our life with the intention that it will be easy to accomplish, we will find the Universe aligning with our wishes. Fortunate happenings will occur that will make it easier for us to achieve our goals. It becomes easy when we say it is easy.

You can take the first step by discovering your true life purpose, and your greatest goals and dreams ... and it really is easy.

Identify Your Focus to Find Your Path to Success

I often  talk about the three components of success and happiness: intention, intuition and Feng Shui. But there's another aspect that's equally important: Focus. Focus and intention are quite similar. Your intention is the action you will take. You set your intention after you discover the powerful answer to “why” you want to do something -- your motivation.

But your focus comes first. Your focus is where you are placing that intention. Take a few seconds to think about where you're placing the focus in your life right now:

- Your career/job/business?
- Your family?
- Your romance?
- Your health and fitness?

Chances are, wherever you're placing your focus, you're probably pretty successful in that area right now. If you’re doing great in your career – then that is where your focus is. If you’re great with your children, they have your focus.

Now, ask yourself: Is the area where you're placing your focus the area that will, ultimately, bring you the most happiness and fulfillment? Is it the thing you most enjoy?

When we place our focus on our true life purpose, we'll see our environment -- our home, place of business and our surrounding community -- fall into alignment to help us achieve greater success in that area.

We can also use the power of Feng Shui to bring our environment into better alignment with our goals.

I'll continue to discuss more about the power of focus and intention in future posts, but if you can't wait to get started on a path to success, I have a special offer for you. Learn more right now with your Feng Shui Secrets Free Trial.

Feng Shui for Prosperity in 2011

feng shui for prosperity
What is the one thing you'd like to accomplish in 2011? What one goal, if you attained it, would make your life that much better? What accomplishment would lead you closer to living (or finding) your true life purpose?

Many people seeking Feng Shui consultations come to me looking for increased wealth, to find romance, improve their career, find greater peace and harmony in their lives, or improve their relationships. Which one applies to you? Or is it something else you really want to change in 2011?

Feng Shui teaches us that when we set our intention, follow our intuition, and focus on our goals, we can achieve them. The Universe, our personal energy, and the chi within our home and work environments will begin to adjust to help us achieve our goals.

How do you harness the power of Feng Shui to accomplish all you desire in 2011?

First, don't forget the most important element of success, which is focus. Write down that one goal -- that one thing you really, really want to be, do or have in 2011.

From there, you can apply Feng Shui remedies -- in the forms of colors, objects or environmental anchors -- to adjust the chi in your space to help you accomplish this goal. Keep it foremost in your mind.

This blog contains tips to help you improve your environment and your life in every way. You can activate the chi in your home or apartment for greater wealth, health, happiness... to find romance, change careers to do something you really love, start a business, or just find greater peace and happiness.

If you make only one change in 2011 -- if you make just one New Year's resolution -- make it relate to living your true life purpose, attaining that one goal you really, really want this year.

Using Feng Shui and Intention to Achieve Your Greatest Goal

intention
Many people perceive Feng Shui as just another way to decorate a home, placing water fountains in corners and hanging wind chimes in the entryway.

Certainly, we can use a variety of objects to activate, balance or redirect the chi in a specific area to achieve specific goals. But, intention is equally as powerful as the Feng Shui cures that we employ to achieve our desired results — and often even more powerful.

When I perform a Feng Shui consultation or space cleansing in a home, business or apartment, I look at the aspects of Feng Shui we can see, such as the placement of your kitchen, the look and feel of your entryway, and the colors of your master bedroom. But I also assess the chi by gauging the subjective, intangible forces derived from my intuition.

Feng Shui is as much about how a space makes us feel as how it looks or how well the chi flows through it. In many cases, these intuitive insights lead us to cures and solutions that can create astounding success we may not have experienced otherwise.

Because Feng Shui is rooted so deeply in the Intention you place behind the cures, a Feng Shui consultation is only the first step. I finish every Feng Shui consultation with an action plan for the client that offers easy suggestions they can use right away. After a consultation or even after employing Feng Shui cures on your own, it is important to take positive action to realize your goals to live a more fulfilled life.

“Intention Can Improve Your Results by 120%”

The world’s foremost Feng Shui Master, Lin Yun Rinpoche, once said, “Intention can improve the results by 120% when you make any positive change in your life.”

In BTB (Black Sect Tantic Buddhism) Feng Shui, we use mundane solutions, transcendental techniques and the power of intention to create change in our lives.  For instance, if you wanted to make more money, you might ask for a raise or find a second job. That would be a mundane solution.

A transcendental solution could involve adding a water element to activate and energize the wealth corner or career section of your home. But if you combine these actions with a strong, powerful intention — visualizing the feeling of security you’d get from greater income, or how much you’d enjoy driving around in that new car, you can achieve results greater than you would from mundane actions and Feng Shui cures alone.

Have you ever desired something so badly that you simply knew it was yours — and could feel the emotions associated with having it? This is the power of intention at work.

3 Basic Rules for Better Feng Shui

If you've been following this blog for a while, you know that Feng Shui principles deal with the flow of energy (chi) through a space. When I come into a home or apartment for a Feng Shui consultation, I use a blend of intuition, intention and the rules of Feng Shui to empower the space based on the client's life goals.

Whether you're considering a Feng Shui consultation or just want to begin to apply Feng Shui principles in your home or apartment, here are three Feng Shui basic rules you can follow to improve your luck, raise your energy levels, and begin on the path to living your true life purpose.

Three Feng Shui Basic Rules

1. Chi should flow freely. The first of the Feng Shui principles is that chi should be permitted to flow freely through a space. This means that furniture should be placed to leave clear paths for foot traffic, and floors should not be filled with clutter that create a physical hazard and block the flow of chi.

2. Infuse a space with light and living chi. Living chi includes plants, pets, and people. These elements attract positive chi into a space. Light, too, makes a space feel more open and welcoming, helping everyone who enters the space adopt a positive attitude.

3. Pay close attention to the three most important areas of a home or apartment: the entrance, the kitchen and the master bedroom. Check out this quick video to learn more about how to use the basic rules of Feng Shui on these important areas.

The Sying and Yi of Feng Shui Cures

Just as Yin and Yang represent two aspects of chi --  dark, female energy and light, active, masculine energy -- Feng Shui cures also work on two complementary levels: Sying and Yi.

Sying, translated as “form” or “appearance” deals with the tangible and external elements of our environment, including how we respond to our surroundings:

- physically
- emotionally
- visually
- intellectually

Yi translates to “intention,” a topic discussed frequently in this blog. It represents the more intangible and intuitive aspects of Feng Shui cures.

Sying and Yi in Harmony
Some factors representing Sying include room positions, building shapes, and the shape of the earth at a site, as well as the overall chi of the earth in that area.

Some common Yi aspects include the ba gua, the history of a home or apartment, and a number of ancient secret rituals known and practiced by Feng Shui masters.

By combining Feng Shui positive changes in our environment (Sying) with our intention (Yi), Feng Shui can work to improve our fortune in all areas of life.

Lessons from Cow Camp: Follow Your Intuition for a Better Path

girls summer camp
If you don't have strong intention, you won't achieve your goals -- at least, not if they are lofty goals. Similarly, it's impossible to achieve your goals if you haven't decided what they are.

When the Guernsey girls hosted their first annual summer camp, Cow Camp, this July, seven-year-old Alex Guernsey learned an important lesson about setting your intention before spending time and resources to do something that may not be what you really want.

During the planning stages of Cow Camp, the girls were given a budget of $100 to plan activities or spend however they'd like for the camp. Alex, not sure what she wanted to do, originally intended to host a woodworking camp. But then she decided to use her money to purchase golf clubs. “I changed my camp to golf and I didn't have enough money to change my mind again.”

Alex's story also reveals an important lesson about following your intuition. Golf clubs in hand, Alex took books out of the library to learn how to teach golf. Along with sister Kate's horse care camp, golfing lessons were the most well-received portion of the five-day camp. As Alex noted, it truly is a fun activity that everybody can do! Had she not followed her intuition to purchase golf clubs, who knows what would have happened?
