Wisdom In Action
Posted by Ken Lauher

Buddhist texts tell us that prajna wisdom, the kind that leads to wisdom-in-action, comes through three traditional forms of wisdom practice.
Learning, reflection, and meditative experience are phases of what we can consider truly "higher" education; they are analogous to filling your mouth, chewing and swallowing, and then digesting.
Learning involves much more than merely gathering information from the outside world. It is also, more importantly, an examination of our inner world: looking into what afflicts or limits us as well as what truly inspires and nourishes us.
In
reflection we thoroughly analyze and process all that we've learned and investigated through contemplative self-inquiry and meditation. The Zen master Bassui said, " When you understand the nature of your mind, delusion will change into wisdom."
Experience is the final step of realizing, or "making real," what we've learned and reflected upon - actually applying what we've now mastered to the way we live.Eventually we get used to integrating learning in both theory and practice, and it becomes part of who we are. Having learned well how to learn, there is no end to it.
