Practice of Gratitude

Gratitude Rocks
Not exalting the gifted prevents quarreling.
Not collecting treasures prevents stealing.
Not seeing desirable things prevents confusion of the heart.

The wise therefore rule by emptying hearts and stuffing bellies,
by weakening ambitions and strengthening bones.
If people lack knowledge and desire,
then intellectuals will not try to interfere.
If nothing is done, then all will be well.

I'm not understanding the last line,
If nothing is done, then all will be well.
What does that mean?

Contradictions.
"Not exalting..., not collecting..., not seeing... -
is already an action, and quite strong action, doesn't sound like ' if nothing is done..."
Tasha.

Tasha, you're right. Not choosing to act is an action. But the meaning being communicated here is not "if nothing is done" but "if nothing is done towards those aims". There's an understood meaning there.

Also the last line could mean:
Have faith that all things work out anyway. God or the Universal way; Tao, sees all things take there natural course true to themselves even in the face of our egos trying to bend it suit our false selves. Leave it be, don't swim upstream. No fight /no blame.Let go of the river bank of knowing and flow with the river of life back to the One.
