Exercise on the Road

If your life involves a good deal of travel it will take some extra attention to stay on your exercise routine. Most hotels have a work-out room with basic equipment. Ask about the exercise facilities when you are making a reservation. Even if equipment is not available, you can perform the basic seven exercises in your hotel room using two-liter water bottles for your weights. The other strength-training drills simply use your body.

If a treadmill is unavailable, you can get in your cardiovascular conditioning by using the stairs instead of the hotel elevator to get to your room floor. If your business meeting is within walking distance, leave enough time to get there with a brisk stroll rather than taking a taxi or driving. It is always easier to continue exercising regularly than it is to stop for a week or two and then restart. Make your fitness program a high priority.
