Cultivate Your Unique, Natural Self

Practice allowing your essential nature to shine by not enforcing judgments on yourself that were imposed by others. Remind yourself that you don't have to do anything: You don't have to be better than anyone else. You don't have to win. You don't have to be number 1 or number 27 or any other number.

Give yourself permission to just be. Stop interfering with your unique natural being. Lighten the burden you carry to be productive, wealthy, and successful in the eyes of others; and replace it with an inner assertion that allows you to access the Tao.

Affirm: I am centered in the Tao. I trust that I am able to straighten myself out, and so is the world. I retreat into silence, knowing that all is well.

Yes, Wayne Dyer is right, as usual. But to be able to fully understand and internalise what he is saying and to practice it, is another thing. At an intellectual level, we all agree with him and know the truth of what he is saying. In practice, about ten minutes after reading this paragraph, we are back in the rat race, competing, envying, hating, asserting, hurting, worrying. This divide, between an intellectual understanding and what we actually do, becomes all the more stressful, because now we know what we should not be doing. The struggle continues till, hopefully, one day, we will fuse our intellect and our being, so that there is not conflict, and life flows smoothly.
