What are some simple Feng Shui rules for a bedroom?

Great question. First step for a bedroom is to make sure your bed is in the command position. Get your free Feng Shui guide, where it explains and shows a diagram of the command position.

There are 3 command positions but typically one stands out or makes more sense than the others. Being in direct line with the door, many people refer to as the coffin position as this was a way to present the dead. This is not a good position as you are in direct line of the chi or energy coming into a room. You also don't want to have your head on the same wall as the door. This position is called the gate keeper position and will typically result in a restless night's sleep.

Feng Shui BedroomAlways best to have a solid head board that is firmly attached to the bed frame. I like to recommend that the bed be touching the wall to ground the bed. Also, matching nightstands with matching table lamps.

No electronics or TV's in the bedroom. Also, remove any family photos or pictures of kids or friends. Those can be place in other areas.

Next colors, use colors that bring you peace and love. Light blue, light green, pink, are good bedroom colors.

The next step is to begin to understand the different areas of a bedroom. Many mistakes people make in the bedroom is bringing exercise equipment into the room and never using it. Typically this means and shows that your relationships make be a workout.

Both my bedrooms in my apartment are over a storeroom. I have been told that this may negatively affect the occupants. What can I do to correct negative energy? Moving is not an option.

We have a king-size bed. I have read that placing a red sheet on the box springs will help to keep the energy of the bed flowing as one. I assume that it is ok if the sheet is not solid (I found one with a leopard print, but it's red on red.) However, I am wondering if the yang of the color will be affected by placing a bed skirt, with a white center portion, over the sheet.

Thanks to anyone with input.

Thanks. So you're saying it can't have a pattern (solid) and I can't put white over it or it won't bring us together. That right?

Sorry, I just wasn't clear. I already know to use the red, right now there is a red king size sheet covering the 2 box springs.

Hi Ken,

We moved to our new apartment in February. Our bedroom is a very small room and we have a king size bed. It is facing the door and I've noticed that were sick all the time. Do you mind suggesting a good cure.

Evangeline,

As you may have seen on my website, a queen size bed is recommended from a feng shui standpoint for the size of the bed. With a king size bed in a small bedroom, this represent to missing opportunities and feeling stuck in life or within a career. There may be additional items happening within the new apartment as well outside of the bedroom or bedroom that would want to be addressed. I recommend that you seek out a personal consultation tailored to your specific needs to be most effective. Visit http://www.kenlauher.com/consulting-services/residential-consultation/ to view options including a 20 minute phone consultation, email consultation or actual on-site consultation.
