Is it bad to have your feet facing the door when in bed?

When in direct line of the door with your feet pointing toward the door can be referred to as the 'coffin position.' This is only because viewing of the deceased would have this type of set-up.

When setting up your bed in the bedroom, place your bed one of the three command positions as shown below. When you are in a command position, you are not in direct line of the door or the flow of chi.

Bed positions for bedroom

If a person is in direct line of the door with feet pointing at the door, this can cause foot problems as the line of energy first hits the feet. And it may cause other side effects as you never want to be in direct line of the oncoming energy.

In an office environment, when a person is in directly line of the door or a long hallway, this position usually has a high turn-over rate and is the first to be let go or to move on.

We have 2 doors in our bedroom, one main door and one opening to the patio. Should our bed face neither, or is it ok if it faces the secondary door?

Our kids are in bunk-beds and its the only place their bed can go. The bed is on the same side as the door but not facing the door. Is this ok?

My bedroom has a large double closet with sliding doors on one side, the entrance to the master bath opposite, entry door on one side, huge picture window opposite. Only space unencumbered enough for the bed is the entry door wall - parallel to entering energy flow. Is that terrible? OK?

Nadya - base the command position off of the main entrance into the bedroom. Ideally, it may be nice to not be in direct line of either but again, I would base the importance on being in the command position of the main door into the bedroom.

Viv - From your description, it sounds as though it is on the same wall that the door is on. If that is the case, they are in the gate keeper position and may not sleep well. Bunk beds are not ideal for children as it can have a downward pressure and limit their growth and development.

Robyn - I believe based on what you described that you may be in one of the three command positions. However, keep in mind that you do want to be able to walk around both sides of your bed.

Hello,

I've been looking for various sites to find solution to my problems, but I cannot find any. Please, please help me...here are my dilemnas:

1. my bed is facing a sliding door leading to a balcony, I bought a love seat, but it's just as tall as the foot of my bed, is that good enough? the couch doesn't have a back rest, just 2 arm rests.

2. with the current position of my bed, the door (on my right) is not visible from my bed, it is blocked because of the wardrobe and the bathroom attached to the room, what is the remedy?

3. currently my bed is facing Southest, but I am a Western type of person, what is the remedy?

4. I am getting married beginning of the year, so by next year my husband is moving in with me, he's Eastern type and I am Western, what is the solution? But I am earning more than him. Please what is the solution?

I hope, really really hope you have time to look into my problems and help me find solutions!

Thank you very much!

Ken -
What if all the command positions are at negative directions for my trigram?
Posted @ Sunday, November 15, 2009 11:04 PM by Tracy Forman
Tracy, You are talking about two different schools of thought regarding Feng Shui. The BTB method of Feng Shui basis everything on how the chi enters the space, home or room and not on the cardinal directions or favorable directions for an individual.

I have a master bedroom in which the only place to put the king size bed is so that the bed is in direct line with the door (on my side of the bed) my husband, however, has his feet in direct line to the wall to the side of the entrance door. If there is no other place to put the bed,How can I correct this?
Thank you.

Rita, it is best to have your bed in a command position and have a solid headboard. Having your bed under a window is ok.

I have a room with a royal purple accent wall. the other walls are a light yellow but the rich undertones. curtains are rick gold and airy witha side shear of the same purple on the wall. the bed is of three tones main tone purple of like wall color with accenting shimmer. prints on the wall gold and gentle greens with flowers. My question is how does that effect my over all fung shui. thank you for your help. I am about to be married next summer

Dawnna, Royal purple is the color of royalty. It is also associated with gaining recognition, visibility and catching the eye of others. I'm not sure if you were to move into this room together with your husband but after you marry, you may want to consider adding lighter color tones as the saying goes, it is so red it is purple. And ideally you do not want over active colors in the bedroom but relaxing, peaceful and soothing light colors.
